Steven L. Reese, 68, a resident of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Charlottesville, passed away at his residence on June 2, 2016.

He was born in Charlottesville on April 8, 1948, a son of the late Marvin M. "Buck" Reese and Louise O. Reese.

Steve graduated from Albemarle High School in 1966, and served his country in the Navy Reserve and on active duty for two years on the USS Neosho. He was employed by the State Department of Corrections in Fluvanna County until he retired due to medical reasons. After that, he worked at Farmington County Club and Clifton Inn. In Myrtle Beach he worked at several golf courses. His favorite hobbies were playing golf with his friends and watching UVA sports.

On February 8, 1969, he was married to Martha Proctor, who survives. Also surviving are his brother, Marvin A. "Pee Wee" Resse (Class of 1961) and wife, Sandy; his nieces, Debra Reese, and LeAnn Atkins; and great nieces, Lindsey and Josie Rappold.

His remains were cremated, Interment will take place at a later date.
