Charles "Charlie" Marvin Travis, 66, of Gordonsville, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born on July 25, 1946, in Charlottesville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Travis. Charlie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Brenda; and their two sons, Walker Travis and his wife, Allison, of Gordonsville, Virginia, and Brooks Travis and his wife, Catherine, of Barboursville, Virginia; his brother, Craig Travis of Charlottesville, Virginia; and sister, Joyce Aument of Falls Church, VA; and many loving granddaughters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, Charlie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict and returned home in 1969. His favorite place to visit was Hatteras Village, North Carolina, where he spent every summer with his family. He enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing, working in the garden, and spending time with his three granddaughters. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Sunday, June 16, 2013, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, 201 North First Street, Charlottesville, Virginia.
